But I can watch basketball, but only NBA.

Not even close to lame.

My dream as a kid was to be a professional footballer, and I'd happily swap everything I own or am good at to be one.

For the most part, I find sport in general boring as fuck.

some sports are fun to play, but I could never do the big league fan thing. I can never get past the idea that the focus of all the crowds, traffic, excitement, and noise is a bunch of millionaires in matching padded suits who are chasing a ball around.

I have never been able to comprehend the appeal of watching baseball or golf.

Quite lame. The amount of time and money society puts towards grown men playing with balls is fucking mind boggling. Sports and their personalities are not nearly as interesting as the various arts, rock and roll included. I also never really cared for competition. Do things that satisfy yourself rather than a scoreboard or an audience.

I do have a couple exceptions in that sometimes I watch Green Bay Packers football as it is culturally ingrained and I do enjoy the excitement of participating in a close and exciting foosball game. But for the most part I would prefer to watch paint dry than sporting events and jock culture is positively repulsive.

I guess that can be applied to all sports and to both genders.

Pushing your way through crowds at your home train station cause there's a Cubs game? Way lame.

Frank Skinner's dad told him the same thing. I think it's a subtle anti-gay remark.

I've always though sports were ridiculous but I tried hard to like football until I was about 13 and then one day just admitted that I didn't really care if "my team" won or lost.

Lately I've started betting on the football results just to have some shared interests with my brother and friends. But after I place the bet I forget about it and rather than watch the results come in I just ask someone on the night how I did.

If I were to like a sport it would be football. Other sports seem far, far duller.

Without sports men would mostly not be able to make small talk with other men.
