I know it's a stupid question, but I've read an interesting interview with Dave Grohl where he stated than in the first day when they were about to start recording IN UTERO, Albini said that he will record it for free if one of them beats him in a pool game. But if he wins, they will have to pay him double for the recording. The band didn't accept, lol. I can imagine their faces.
I was just wondering if someone here knows Steve that good enough and can tell us about his abilities in pool.

I'm not that good. Any good pool player (of the sort that plays seriously/for money) could beat me like a rug. Most band members who play pool casually are not that good, and I might be better than the bulk of them.

Do you mean billiards with the 3 balls and playing 3-cushions and all that, or just straight-up pool, like 8-ball or just shooting balls?

Regardless, I think the answer is "very good". Like, he could play for money against shmoes at a pool hall and leave with more than he showed up with. Also, he might get his ass handed to him by a real full-time professional player.

I've never played against him, but I have played pool (8-ball) with Russ. I found that Russ was a monster at 8-ball, and scoffed at it as being an inferior-player's game compared to billiards. My understanding is that Steve would crush Russ in billiards.

Man is this thread making me wish I played pool regurlarly like I used to.
