My brother just bought a 400 sq foot cabin in the Bow Valley just outside of Canmore Alberta. I have not yet been there but I know it will be a good place not to yell. Also, my bro and I will drink single malt scotch and watch a fire burn down there. We are men.

Mountains here in Taiwan have monkeys. I do not yell at the monkeys.

Some sort of buzzard-sized tropical insect stung me thrice on the head last weekend. I believe I was heard to say "Ow, fuck, ow, fuck, ahhh."

I have always enjoyed listening to the first track of A Minor Forest's Inindependence (song title escapes me) while approaching a trailhead to do some hiking or climbing.

What kind of mountain access do Chicago residents have?

There are the "Porcupine Mountains" in the Upper Penninsula of Michigan. Though they are not really mountains 'per se', they do provide some of the landscape of a mountain range.

The Black Hills of South Dakota are another relatively close by mountainous area.

Ones that are worth the trip out-of-state.

My experience has been mostly with the Rockies, and also St. Helens and Hood in the Northwest, although I have driven through the Smokies and the Northern Appalachians.

Music of choice? "Albino Slug" by Scratch Acid, tho the Downer Trio EP is verra nice.

In addition to mountains, national parks, canyons, quarries, and open farmland are also very nice things to visit outdoors.
