Is this a bad Idea?

I have all the workings for my studio in the very small basement of the house. The ceilings are low and it would be hard to record a full band down there. The plan for the future is to build out the detached garage and put the studio in there.

In the meantime, why can’t I just run a snake to the garage, and record a band keeping the basement as the control room. The distance is roughly 75 feet. Will there be noticeable signal loss. Will it sound awful? If it is realistic, is there a particular type of cable to use. I build mike cables with mogami wire, and it seems to be ok.

Actually, it sounds like a great idea. Just make sure you've got an alarm system and/or good door locks and such. Oh yeah, and be armed to the teeth in case any neighbor comes over to bitch about the noise. Good luck.
