I was at a antique store and they had about 20 old tube for a buck each.
Mostly RCA and Sylvania.
Don't know what kind.
Anyone want a random assortment of tubes?
2If there are any 6L6s I've been needing to get a backup pair. Might be willing to take the lot off your hands.

3Probably old radio/TV tubes. I bet some HAM people would take those off your hands.

4Man, I don't even know how many tubes I have that are sitting in boxes never to be used. I bought two tube caddies (carrying boxes) that were full of tubes. 90% of the tubes are useless. The matched pair of Mullard GZ34's were about the best thing in there. I've also bought lots of tubes (not meaning like "I bought so many" but literally I bought a "lot") on eBay a couple times because there were 6KG6's in there that I wanted. The rest, as usual, are more or less useless.
That being said, yep, ham-fest type flea markets will have guys who will gladly take the tubes off your hands if nobody else wants them. Pretty much we all just want the normal audio tubes and none of the others.

Did I forget anything? I'm pretty sure those are most of the tubes anybody in musical instrument world usually cares about.
Oh, and if you find any 2A3 or 300B tubes, keep them, they're often worth hundreds of dollars each. Crazy.

hey this thread got me thinking about these old RCA tubes i found in some warehouse a friend lived in many years ago. they are unused, and in original boxes. one of them is exactly the same as this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/RCA-NOS-845-Electro ... dZViewItem
i couldn't BELIEVE how much this thing went for! it LOOKS brand new, but seller still makes a point of saying it is sold untested. who couldn't use a little chunk of change like that? not sellin it yet, but just curious, scott, if you know what these are used for. i also have two that are smaller, but simliar in form and packaging. these are #45s, which there a shitload of on ebay, at a varitey of prices.

6The 845 is an audio frequency power amplifer that can handle a shitload of voltage and put out a lot of power. Check out some of the links here.
That's crazy expensive, eh?
Not sure what amps used it. It's the old style of tube where instead of using a cathode and a heater that heats the cathode, it uses a single "filament" for the cathode, meaning that the cathode itself is what generates the required heat. They haven't made em like that for quite a while because (from what I understand anyhow) it's an inferior design and the cathodes don't last as long as the modern type of tubes which have indirectly heated cathodes.
After some number of decades, no functioning examples of these tubes will exist, at all, on planet Earth, except maybe in museums, which is why the really old tubes like this are so expensive. Same idea with the 300B, except those were so damn popular and revered that people like JJ are actually making them today.
In general, any tube with a name that's just two or three digits (numeric, not alpha) is super old and might be worth a bunch.
I'd sell that thing in a heartbeat, but only because I would have absolutely no use for it and could think of some pretty nice things to get with the money.

dude, they are dumble. I bet this guy will make a special design to put these tubes in, just to make his amps more expensive.
