Hi, I did a search on "cd labels", "cool cd labels", etc, following the tips in the search help thread, and couldn't find anything discussing this.
Have always had trouble whenever I've had to design CD labels. Much more so than when designing the cover sleeve, etc.
I've always thought the CD label designs were always kind of difficult to get unique looking without it looking silly. The better ones are always the simpler ones that incorporates the circular CD shape and/or used the original silver color of the disc. My favorites are probably Shellac's CDs, Tortoise's Millions (with the fishes swimming in circular motion), Spiderland's blank CD, and most GY!BE's designs.
Anyone got any cool favorite CD label designs of their own?

2PS1 cd's were black on both sides? Strange, I don't remember that.
I've seen the bridges burning in the night.

3I like your 'none more black' cd, idea, food!
you could look into white faced cds, too. {fuck you, kimyetta} We made cardboard stencils and hand decorated the cds with markers while in the van between shows. great way to pass the time. each one was a little different, but they all looked neat.
we threw them in either clear or white cases, stenciled those too, added a clear track list/info sticker, and let the folks choose how much they'd like to pay for it (years before radioheads. heh). we sold one for fifteen bucks once!
