Probably my favorite guitar ever (I love the Telecaster, too), but I have to add a waffle factor of three because of the easily breakable headstock.

I've wanted one of these for years, and finally last month I got my hands on a handed-down hand-me-down via a friend circuit. It is every bit as good as I remembered them being, despite being beaten and mangled. Not crap.

As a resident of DC, I am required by law to love the SG. Not crap.

Yes, excellent overdrive guitars. I don't have one, but i've played them.

I have been a bit disappointed with the clean tones I've heard out of them, but that could just be because I haven't had time to really mess around with one.

CRAP simply due to the cost of these things. I used to have a beautiful Guild SG that put every Gibson Sg I've ever owned or played to shame. Then my dumbass left it in my trunk on a day when it was 100 degrees out and now it has the action of a harp.

Yes, I am an idiot for doing this.

.

Find an SG Special or Junior w/ P 90 pickups. Turn down the guitar volume = Briiing...CLEAN

Turn up the Guit volume = GRRRRR...Barkin' Dirty.

Especially w/ a tube amp. Extra especially w/ a tube amp loaded w/ 6550 's.

Good example = The Who Live At Leeds

I confess. I'm an SG man. 74 SG Standard Limited Edition I and an 85 SG Standard Reissue II are my two babies...

I've never had a problem with the headstocks on mine (although I treat them pretty nice) and I didn't spend an arm and a leg on them either. New SGs are ridiculously overpriced though, this is true. Also, you gotta find the right SGs, some of them don't play that great. The gems of the line are quite sparkly though :D

No waffle necessary -- these are my favorite guitars. NOT CRAP!

I agree that some of the new ones are pretty expensive, but Jesus H. Fucking Christ, do you really need the Pete Townshend signature model? You can often find new Specials or Juniors for $600-800, not much for a quality instrument.

Or you could always buy one used. Shiny new instruments are gay anyway.

Yeah, and they're NICE.
I remember when you could buy old SG Specials for the same amount. Based on a recent Chicago trip, I'd have to say those days are WAY gone, daddy-o.

i sincerely don´t get why those guitars have a resonant not crap when they are in my ignorant opinion really similar to les pauls. wtf?
okay, the look cooler perhaps and are more lightweight.
not crap anyways because it´s obviously a good guitar. but i´m tired of them, 4 of each 5 bands here have guitarists with black sgs.
