Yeah yeah, tons of threads. Don't want to dig. Not gonna do it.

So I recently restored a '64 Deluxe Reverb. Sounds great. Recapped, re-resistored it, new grille cloth, cleaned paint off the tolex etc.

Original speaker is functional but I don't really care for the rather limited range. I really like a fuller-range speaker, I'd like more highs and lows.

Knowledgeable suggestions as to what would be good with this amp while spending less than $100 on a 12" would be appreciated.

I imagine there's an Eminence that would fit the bill. The new stuff is nothing like the square magnet garbage they made ages ago.

I've used a Tonker and a Red Fang in different applications than a Deluxe, but I have no reason to believe that something from the "Patriot" (read Jensen, Oxford, JBL clones) series wouldn't sound good.

There are other options from Weber, but I think they'd be beyond your price ceiling.

I would go with a Weber for the amp you describe, but yeah, it's gonna cost more than 100 bucks new.

Maybe used?

The Weber Sigs don't really have that much low-end or high-end. It will pretty much be on par with what he already has in there.

Zom is asking for a "wide" or "full" range driver.

Normal "guitar" speakers usually range from 80hz to 5khz. I assume we're looking for something wider than that.

Zom. You should dig around on the Eminence Guitar speaker page and also try out the American Originals. They are good inexpensive speakers.

Good Luck.

I'd call Weber on the phone and tell them all that.

They'll suggest something. Then I'd buy that.

Otherwise, the descrips on the site are accurate--don't shy from using those as a guide.

I don't know what happened to their website. It looks like shit now.
