Curious to see if anyone else has experienced this. My Juno 6 has started locking up on me. The light for Chorus II comes on and then I cannot select any waveform. It will emit no sound when this occurs. For a while, it only did this when the synth was turned off and immediately turned back on, for instance when someone accidentally flips a power strip. As of last week though, on came the Ch II light and it hasn't turned off since.

I've approached a few repair shops in the area, though no one is brave enough to look at it. I live in Chapel Hill, NC and would be willing to drive it to someone in say, TN, VA, or SC, if anyone knows of a person who has experience repairing Rolands. Not too keen on shipping it anywhere for various reasons. Any ideas?

One thing I just remembered: The first time this happened, the synth blew a fuse. If there's a chance that I replaced it with the wrong valued fuse, could that be causing this problem? My understanding of the inner workings of electronics is pretty minimal.

did you contact Roland about this? they normally do repair their synths, even the old ones. well at least around here.

I have a Juno 6 that I love love :heart : . great set of keys, really. one of the best. My 6 has a high pitched keening sound it makes just because it's on. doesn't bother me, it just does it.

Never replaced the fuse in mine, so I don't know about your particular issue. you may want to check that first off before you send your synth out. I've only heard about lockups in the Juno 60, since those memory cards weren't the most reliable.

since this is a Chicago based forum, it's hard to get out of town answers sometimes. alex maiolo is in chapel hill, but he doesn't post here so much anymore, I'll ask him the next time we talk, and get back to you. he'll have some ideas.

you might want to try the forum at http://www.vintagesynth.com . they'll be more likely to have an answer. Maybe Roland has a board, too. TapeOp board would most likely get you a good response, too.

that said, we have a great synth thread in the tech room, and lots of other Juno and non juno stuff here. feel free to look around. we're more fun than all those other forums.

bassdriver, I haven't contacted Roland yet--saving that as a last resort. Good to hear there's been some success with their willingness to repair.

Thanks for the tip on additional boards to check, kerble. Haven't stumbled across the vintagesynth board before. I think I scoured the Roland board once for similar problems and when I didn't find them I figured I was all alone in the world.

I'd hate to think my Juno is on its last legs. It's probably the nicest piece of gear in my house. Mine has a quiet keen as well and yeah, I'm okay with it. Maybe if I send it to Roland they can find some magical way to make it more portable.
