Britain From Above

Confirmation that I am finally turning into my father. I love it.

I should love this. It's normally exactly what I'd watch.

But I can't stand Andrew Marr... Somthing about the big ears, lips, lisp and receeding hairline gives me the creeps.

Much of the content is only available in the UK, and I don't have a proxy at work. Looks cool, though.

I saw the one about East Anglia on Sunday and... meh. Which is a shame, because I love aerial photography, I have that Britain from above book that was produced for the millenium and six folders of old aerial photos of Leeds I saved from the bin at work.

And in that regard, there was really very little about 'Britain From Above'. I noticed they used the same representative shot of 'suburbs' about four times. To a large extent, the 'From Above' part seemed tacked on, as Andrew Marr would deliver some social history and then add that, by the way, it changed the landscape and here's the same image again to show it.

It wasn't a bad programme though, it told the story of the mechanisation of agriculture well and was interesting. One of the farmers they interviewed has an expressive voice I liked listening to. I fear the 'From Above' part is an undeveloped angle, though.

Judgement reserved until I've seen some more.
