NOT CRAP. No waffle factor. Besides Mystery Science Theater 3000, this is probably my all-time favorite TV show. I can easily understand why some people would loathe it, and some episodes aren't particularly funny, but most of them are. I think the videos might be the best part of this show, though, and none of the legit home video releases can include all of them due to licensing (I presume). Still, one of the best shows ever, IMO.

There are so many great epsodes that I can't even begin to name a favorite. All these years later, this show still has the ability to frequently send me into convulsive laughter. I have a suspicion I'm in the minority on this here board.

Cool...huh huh

I liked when they got butts tattooed on their butts.

due to licensing (I presume)

Mike Judge says this is why they will never be able to release them on DVD etc.

I only about 7 of 150 episodes is availible.

"Beavis & Butt-head" was and is great. Absolutely no waffle factor.

It got people in the door by being crude and weird (and, of course, funny), but it was actually a very intelligent show that featured some very pointed social commentary.

And in a weird way, it was often a very bittersweet show. In fact, parallels between "Beavis & Butt-head" and "Peanuts" often jumped out at me.

A great show. NOT CRAP.

A totally massive not crap. I thought it might be one of those shows that is only good in your memory, but i saw some quite recently and was in histerics.
I also think the parts with the videos were the best. My personal favourites? B and B watching "push th' little daisies" by Ween. Or the thoughtful dissection of "Creep" by Radiohead.

Beavis : They should just do the cool bit for the whole song. This bit sucks.
Butthead : But without the bit that sucks, the cool bit wouldn't be as cool.
Beavis : Whoa. Yeah, you're right. (beavis then does impression of guitar chugging at very badly placed intervals)
Butthead : errr, calm down beavis.

Amazing

Their 'commentary' on the videos was what had me rolling most of the time as well...I recall there being videos by Archers of Loaf, The Didjits, etc etc. which was kinda cool.

After they received pressure from Concerned Citizens, Beavis was not allowed to say "fire" anymore. Shortly thereafter, Butthead took some batteries out of a smoke detector. Beavis attempted to dissuade him:

"Hey Butthead, what if there's a... oh! Er... never mind."

Perfect.

The videos represented the best part of the show by far. I used to watch this show a lot because most of the videos being lampooned were never shown on MTV Europe and I'd never heard of a lot of the bands. However, it was great seeing some decent bands on it that didn't suck (like Helmet: "Hey Butthead, that drummer just looks like a regular guy").

B&B also introduced me to Gwar.

Not Crap.

I especially liked their criticism of Pavement's "Rattled by the Rush." Which was something like "Ugh! Start over! This time, try! Look at The Jesus Lizard. They suck, but at least they kick ass!"

I remember they went absolutely nuts over the video for "Dang" by Jon Spencer and the Blues Explosion.

I also like their consistent mocking of "college rock."

The episode in which Beavis goes to find help for a choking Butt-Head is probably my favorite.

It's interesting that it's remembered for being "over-the-top" when it's anything but. Most of the time, the humor is extremely subtle especially with the later episodes.
