TAR appreciation

I dug out Jackson today...what a great, great record. Then it was Clincher, Toast and Roundhouse. Over And Out I could never really get into. It has some fine moments, but not their best.
The tour they did with The Jesus Lizard gave me two of the greatest shows Ive ever seen.

i first saw tar in january of 1992, playing with the poster children at mabels in champaign.

totally.fucking.blew.my.mind.

in reminiscing about this show years later with zaluckyj, he thought this was thew show where his amp fell on him (and broke his foot?). i had no recollection of that happening, though.

'les paul worries' continues to be one of my favorite songs.

also 'seam'. (the song, not the band, though i also love the band, of course...)

"i'm gonna dump b.m. on your head, with stinky butt poop!"

Tar was a great band. I saw them in 1993 at the Whiskey a-go-go with Jawbox. They were so great. I had never seen a picture of them, so I didn't know who they were until they started playing. I thought they would be more sinister looking people, but no. That's cool.

Yeah. Jackson is great. I like all their stuff a lot. Sorely missed. I got to play the aluminum bass once. Tom is a nice fellow. They wore the wrist sweat bands because the aluminum would rub off on their wrists while playing, not some 70's fashion statement.

I would shit a brick to see this show. Alas, I was twelve years old at the time.
Police Teeth: we like Void so much, we decided not to sound like them.
