Another giant, monstrous, huge, FUCK YOU to the world.

First it was the nomination of John "Fuck the U.N." Bolton as ambassador to the UN, now it's the nomination of Paul "I'll Fucking Bomb Your Country Too" Wolfowitz to the head of the World Bank.

W is just having fun now. This is just out-there kind of stuff.

When does it end? It will never end.

I can't get too worked up about this. By now, I'd guess that most of the rest of the world realizes that the World Bank is basically sophisticated loanshark. Whether the oligarchy/dictator/puppet government that might rule a given third-world country still does business with the bank is another story. But I can't imagine anyone is still confused about how it works.
Nominating someone like Wolfowitz, who hasn't exactly been coy about his contempt for international law, strikes me the same way as the Bolton nomination: the Bush administration is just being honest about the total lack of regard they have for the opinion of anyone who is not both an American and a Republican, and their contempt for international law and norms.
At least people like Wolfowitz believe the horseshit ideas they're peddling. I end up feeling much more contempt for people like Powell, who provide the cloak of sanity for the administration's agenda.

When does it end? It will never end.

Republicans don't fuck around. They are kicking ass and going for everything they've wanted for years and getting it.

This is what happens to a docile, self-absorbed, ignorant population when the corporate interests gain almost total control.

Here are some of their wet dreams that they made happen:

Erosion of the bill of rights: The "Patriot" Act (mostly written prior to 9/11), military tribunals, camps at Guantanamo, etc.

Rolling back environmental protections: Drilling in the the Alaskan wildlife perserve, allowing corporations to increase their polluting.

Winning shady elections: Voting machines with no paper trail, disenfranchised voters, non-responsive Republicans overseeing elections in key states, etc.

Imperialism: Control of Iraq's oil, transfer the contents of the treasury to private corporations

More giveaways for the rich and more stomping on the poor: Tax cuts for the weathy, legislation to make it harder to sue negligent corporations, legislation to make it harder to declare bankrupcy (w/loophole for the wealthy).

Associated Press
World Bank: Wolfowitz Not in Running
03.03.2005, 06:42 AM

World Bank President James Wolfensohn said Thursday that U.S. Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz was no longer in the running to head the Washington-based international financial institution.

"Mr. Wolfowitz is no longer part of the exercise," Wolfensohn said after meeting with European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso.

"He is not in the game. So far as I know because he has withdrawn his name," he said.

The New York Times reported early this week that Wolfowitz was under serious consideration to become the next president of the World Bank, which will be open when Wolfensohn leaves June 1 after two five-year terms.

A Bush administration official has said that Carly Fiorina, recently forced out of her job as chief executive of Hewlett-Packard Co., was in the running for the job.

The United States, the bank's largest shareholder, traditionally names its president while the sister institution, the International Monetary Fund, traditionally has been headed by a European.

The Bush administration began the search for Wolfensohn's successor in early January and said it would talk to other countries that belong to the 184-nation World Bank.

Wolfensohn did set out clear requirements for a successful candidate.

"I would like to see my successor be passionate on the question of poverty and on the question of human development," he said, major areas where the bank is active.

"It is very important that anyone who comes into this job must care about the human aspects of poverty and the human aspects of development," he said.

Mmkay.

It is a disaster.

He has no record of concern for development or the world’s poor. He is a hawk. A warmonger.

What does this say other than ‘We’re in charge’.

Can this be vetoed?

When does it end? It will never end.

No. No. He would get the nod, will he? Will the Europeans give him the thumbs-up? He's losing 23% to 77% on the CNN Money poll...

What about Bono?

When does it end? It will never end.

I'm Republican, and for fun, I take a vacation every year to dump oil into the ocean. I also eat live animals and shit bullets. Curse Mr. Bush! I wish we could get our draft dodger back.......

In case you've been living in a cave, America is a Wartime nation. We always have been ever since we were colonized. If you don't like it go cry about it or move out. However I will agree with the general consensus that Paul Wolfowitz is manipulative dog. This world bank idea is shit and is part of a growing trend to consolodate this world into some unified police state. I truly beleive mr. Wolfewitz would like to see WW3.
