Hello,

So I just had a 1/4” adapter break off and the tip got stuck inside my brand new pedal.

Tried needle nose pliers but I can’t get a grip.
Tried taking the enclosure off but the jacks are totally enclosed so I cant push it out the other way.
Tried blasting it with piss (not really)

I have some tools on hand but nothing specialized. No solder. I don’t want to damage the jack obviously.

What can i do?
Any tips/tricks?
Do I have to take it into a shop?

Can you post a picture of the the inside showing the jack?

I responded on Facebook, but after thinking about this some more, I'd probably gently insert the rest of the plug (minus the loose piece) back into the pedal, open the pedal, and push the tip end out from the inside (enclosed jacks are often open on the end) with the fat end of a wooden chopstick. This way you have the barrel keeping that frictional contact inside from getting in the way of the tip coming out.

Do all of this gently.

Give that a whirl, but these jacks look like Carling type, which are enclosed inside.

OK maybe my language skills are not cutting it, but yes I have already tried opening up the pedal and seeing if i could push the tip out from behind. Unfortunately, as Dr. Balls mentioned, the jacks themselves are encased in plastic. Therefore there is no opening or space on the back side to be able to push the broken piece back out.

In that case my answer would be that I dont have a definite solution without replacing the jack. Is the jack mounted to a board or wired offboard?

forceps might do what needlenose pliers can't get to? but that's not something everyone has.

I've used hemostats for this before and they JUST fit. Should be able to get a pair at Harbor Freight for super cheap.

Those enclosed jacks bum me out every time I crack a case and see them...usually because I'm trying to fix one that has shit connection or straight up broken and they're not nearly as easy for an amateur like me to replace.

I took a toothpick and put a teeny dab on both pieces, and then plugged the ass end back in so it matched where it was busted. Then sat some books on the end and let it be. Miraculously it worked and i got the whole thing out in one pull, and I could even scrape out the excess residue with another pick.

That was very clever!
