So I've had this old RM clone for years, and it sounds great. I paid very little for it, and it still works despite its messy soldering. It has a a 9v jack but the only supply it ever worked with was a Boss red label 200 mV. My last one of those has since crapped out, so I have to run it off batteries.
Into my Matchless Lightning, this thing delivers the classic Iommi and May tones. I'd like to find one that sounds the same but can run off a power supply. I tried an Arcane Analog clone and it sounded like a shitty fuzz pedal.
Re: Rangemaster Suggestions
2Our own FM Dr Tony Balls makes a couple.
I've been pretty happy with the Catalinbread Naga Viper.

3I built a Chickenhead from PedalPCB.com which is a Red Rooster knockoff which is, IIRC, a Rangemaster clone. I love that thing so much. Luckily, I was able to track down a good Germanium transistor for it. I don't know shit about shit, but this pedal is great with my telecaster->my 2x12 Musicman

This is one of the best "Feedback without having to turn up to 'STOOOPID...' levels..." pedals of all time.

If you are in the states and mine is still in good working order?
I would be glad to mail it to you on loan for a couple of weeks to see if it works well with your exact setup.
While there are absolutely some other worthwhile options that set out to be a "Better Mousetrap..."?
I cannot say enough good things about this pedal
Re: Rangemaster Suggestions
5I am in the states and thank you for the gracious offer! That pedal looks awesome, but is a little more than I'm looking to spend. I think I need to investigate the circuit on mine first to see if it actually is a Rangemaster.
I'd rather be throwing darts.
Re: Rangemaster Suggestions
6There shouldn’t be anything unique about that Boss power supply. Is it a PSA-120T?
Re: Rangemaster Suggestions
7These one's are the most standard rangemaster option, with variable range. They're "out-of-stock" right now but just because I got busy with other things and havent gotten around to building another batch. I could knock one out quick if you're interested. http://ballseffects.com/boost/ballsmaster/
The Balls Deluxe that someone else mentioned aims at doing that Rangemaster into an amp thing, but all in one pedal for those with bigger amps that want to avoid cranking the amp. With a Matchless Lightning you're running in "rangemaster classic" territory and should be able to just crank the amp to breakup. IMO. Anyway those are actually out of stock with me, but Main Drag Music has one still.
Oh, also PRF discount applies to list price on things. DM for details.
Re: Rangemaster Suggestions
8Yeah. I've tried others with the same specs and the pedal basically makes a high-pitched hum.Adam P wrote: Thu Feb 24, 2022 8:30 am There shouldn’t be anything unique about that Boss power supply. Is it a PSA-120T?

Re: Rangemaster Suggestions
9The PSA-120T is a linear supply with a transformer and 9V regulator. I wonder if you’re getting hum when using with a switching power supply?
Re: Rangemaster Suggestions
10Are you sure the other supplies are the same polarity as the BOSS, i.e. center pin negative?
