I think maybe fm Greg could help with this.
My neotek elan needs new logic cables,
I have a whole midi automation system i need to convert.
Would anyone know what kind of connectors and ribbon cables i need? A good place to get them? Can i reuse the connectors i have?
Thanks
Joni
Re: Neotek elan ribbon cable
2Hey,
I have never had to source those parts, fortunately. I would recommend checking with Sytek/Neotek to see what was used if you're trying to mate things with old parts.

Re: Neotek elan ribbon cable
3I'm pretty sure the ribbons in an elan are similar to an elite. The Elite bus ribbon connectors are similar to the TE Connectivity MTA100 series. I'm pretty sure the original ones in my console say panduit on them, but I've replaced a couple with the TECs 24 guage with feed through. The actual ribbons themselves I have never been able to find. Finding 24 gauge ribbons with the correct spacing is only half the battle. Finding ribbons with the cutouts for the feed through has been impossible for me. FWIW, the IDC connectors that Neotek used is problematic with stranded ribbon cables. IDC connectors are designed to work with solid core wires. They seem to have a high failure rate with stranded wire. Which is why I find myself re-punching ribbons all the time.
