I've been playing drums with this trio since 2019. Singer plays keytar and guitarist plays the only strings. It's a lot of fun and I think we sound good.
We kinda rushed this superEP (mini-LP?) to the finish line; we were sitting on most of the tracks for a year waiting for the vocals to get done, and since we put something out every Xmas we decided these songs would be our 2023 Xmas release. I played and recorded the drums, engineered and mixed everything which was easy because the guitars and synths were DI'ed and the guitarist has a Kemper Profiler. If I did this again I would send it out for mastering, and also not rush the release. I had to do the final mixes in Audacity because my copy of Logic Pro won't work anymore as documented in another thread.
There are a lot of metallic and hardcore riffs, but we aren't really that kind of band. It's punk but doesn't sound like Exploited or Crass. I don't know what you'd call it but I'm proud of it by any name. Playing drums is fun. My personal favorites are "Untie Me" (blast beats! crust!) and Pink Hot Skin (somehow swings while being extremely heavy) but I think "White Worm" (Helmet-y) and "Ronnie's Riddles" (our most "mature" track) might be more this forum's speed. I hope somebody enjoys this!
Merry Crispness y'all.
Re: Black Mesa - "Boy Crazy"
3Thank you! I was skeptical of the Kemper but it is great for recording.InMySoul77 wrote: Thu Dec 21, 2023 10:57 pm Good stuff. Ripping guitar tone. Reminds me of Melvins a bit.
