Band: Geese

I’ve been really enjoying Getting Killed over the weekend and today - there’s a frantic but controlled sloppiness to it all that I really love. 3D Country is good too, haven’t given their debut more than a cursory listen.

They’re good. The vocals are a little too affected and self-aware for my taste, but I think the music is interesting. I’ll give em a not crap with a stack of waffles for that singer.

Couple of dudes I work with love Geese. I tried to listen to the newest record on the way home.
Man... I really hate the vocals in this band. They sounded like David Byrne if his band were all too drunk to play good. Every single song got a skip. The singer never shuts up and his vocals do not move the song along.
Big Crap

Kinda have never felt more out of touch with whatever passes for 'the tastemakers' lately.
This music is not for me even remotely. Add to that IDLES, that irish band who does the awful theme song for Mobland, and 400 other bands.
Their publicist is doing some Taylor Swift level work though because you cannot fucking avoid this band the last two weeks.

First time listening to this band - I watched "Taxes" on Kimmel (video below).
I find nothing wrong with it other than it sounds exactly like Radiohead to me, particularly the singer.
Give it a few years and the singer will be singing over ambient electronic music while still calling it a band.
Very small sample size, so no vote for now.

I don't get the IDLES hate so much. I don't "like" them really at all but I get why people do. I just find them kinda boring. This Geese thing... wooof! Confounds me.

I had the same thought about the vocals.
But I didn't really dislike it. Or like it.
It's interesting and more original than lots of other young bands (nowadays).
It's interesting to see them causing fits among the middle-aged rocker cohort as they (we) try to comprehend these young weirdos.
That's a positive sign as far as I'm concerned.

I knew they were blowing up because social media was falling hand over feet trying to show me clips of their live sets that were posted from accounts I don’t even follow. It’s like your mom asking if you listen to Kings of Leon.

I know touring is expensive but I was already sick of the karaoke acts pre-pandemic.
