English lads: Arctic Monkeys

I have always thought of AM as a band for “the kids” but my son plays em and it’s pricked my ears. Listened to a few albums today - some good things in there, and the song 505 is (as the kids say) a banger.
Also unusual for a band to have this much longevity in these times - going on 20+ years now and evolving along the way… seems like a similar journey to Radiohead but less annoying and pretentious…
If you were a Guardian journalist you might throw out some line about them being the last great rock band or some such shite… but whatever - I say not crap
What say you?

I don't dislike what I've heard from them but also haven't been enthused to the point of wanting to explore them more deeply than what I've heard secondhand from the radio or my wife's playlist.
Graded on a curve amongst their peers (widely popular rock bands over the past 20 years), they might be a NC, but I probably should refrain from voting.

I remember hearing “I Bet You Look Good On The Dance Floor” in high school and thinking these louts weren’t fit to lick Franz Ferdinand’s loafers. It just sounded like a woefully generic version of the British dancy post-punk revival thing and soured me on them from the start.
I did not care to delve any further into them, and I cared even less when they became some sort of critical darling band. CRAP.

They are more interesting to me. Sounds like they listened to "Girls on Film" on repeat and based a band on it. I mean, there are worse songs.
Franz Ferdinand > Arctic Monkeys

Fell off them after the debut album, but what a debut album. “Darts of Pleasure” is a banger, if only because the outro part uses the same G to E progression that I hear off “Having an Average Weekend” and that’s catnip to me.

Aside from 'Perhaps Vampires is a Bit Strong But...', that first album of theirs didn't grab me. Also saw them at a festival in 2007, they didn't do much for me then either.
While I'm sure I could find other songs I'd enjoy if I listened to their catalog, I don't have much of a desire to.
