I am doing this as a poll.

How many times have you found yourself in a band, that you just had to swallow your on shit for the sake of being in a band with a good and needed musician?

Yeah, me too...

100% would rather be in a band with good friends, mediocre musicians than good musicians, lousy friends. I don't think I've ever really dealt with the latter and want no part of it. But I've never needed to rely on money made from gigs. I suspect my answer might be different if that were the case.

^ That was clever. Also true for me, though my current bandmates (also me) are on hiatus.

Never had bandmates I hated but I have had bandmates with issues that made it impossible to continue a working relationship with them

If we're jamming, we're buddies. Or as it was in my case, my future wife.
I have played with junkies whom I liked, and that is not doable.
I have a hunch it's mostly metal band members that don't like each other. Lots of beef in the articles I see in my internets.

you've also got your revolving door rosters under cranky dictators like David Thomas, Dave Mustaine, MES, & Billy Corgan.

I cannot jam with people I hate. Alternately I cannot jam with people I love. Maybe the problem is me.
