AJ starting a book club a la norm macdonald.
NB claiming in his bestselling memoir that he doesn't read books.
AJ wearing an albini shirt on instagram.
NB doesn't even like music, and would probably like cringey bands if he did.
NB best dad
AJ probably on a watch list somewhere
NB invites the audience in. the joke is a shared space.
AJ pushes the audience away. the joke is a blade.
NB lowers himself to raise the room.
AJ raises himself to test the room.
NB morally neutral, avoids cruelty entirely.
AJ morally transgressive by design.
in case you live under a rock, it's fair to call this the best snl sketch in years. "you asked about the temperature."

Tough one, love them both!
Jeselnik might be the better hypothetical hang for me personally.
As a fellow dipshit dad, I find Nate very relatable.
Both have a style that I thought would have worn thin, but they keep producing fresh material year after year.
I'll go with Jeselnik.

Jeselnik easily. Bargatze, along with that shirtless guy fall under popular dad humor comedians that do nothing for me.

Exactly this.
he's smarter than that. it's all part of the act.
the thing that separates him from jeff foxworthy and larry the cable guy is the natural delivery.
but i get how one might ask, "this is what the hype is about?"

I don't know Jeselnik, but Bargatze manages to be funny without swearing, unlike Jerry Seinfeld.

I'd rather be forced to sit through that hack (Charlie Behrens) from Sheboygan's act than have to listen to Bargatze ever again.

I saw bargatze and thought it was Bargaze, assuming a new kind of very mid shoegaze.

Bargatze has a handful of bits that are really funny.I've been listening to his stuff for years, before he slimmed down and re-invented his physical appearance. Flying to Honduras and checking your bed for spiders and snakes is a favorite. There are several more that are really good. You are right, playing dumb is part of the charm.
Jeselnik does not give a fuck. But he does have the thing where he sets up a premise and tries to shock with his unexpected punchline. It often feels formulaic. If you are familiar with his stuff, you know it's coming. I still think he's a really good comedian.
Apples and oranges. I don't think I can vote on this one. Waffles for AJ in an Albini shirt. Had no Idea there was a connection there. Curious about that.
As far as comparing Nate to the guy who takes his shirt off, I have to say you have not dived deep enough into Nate's stuff. Shirt off guy sucks. Nate is legit funny.
Good poll. I'll think about it and maybe vote later. Or maybe I won't.
