Those anti-capitalist screeds seem a bit hypocritical coming from a man who hung out on fucking Epstein Island.

Total drag. Now reading Chomsky is going to be like reading Hamsun.

His book title Manufacturing Consent is pretty odious in hindsight. I binned my copy.

I just read The Guardian’s story about this, good lord,
it’s fucking awful.

It’s both totally shocking and totally unsurprising how many powerful men lied about the timing and nature of their relationships with Epstein and are now being caught in those lies.

Chomsky himself said that was mostly Herman's work, but obviously he endorsed it. It's certainly disappointing that its major legacy seems to have involve undermining clear evidence of war crimes (Bosnia, Rwanda, Syria).

The MIT-Epstein stuff is really grim. Epstein was a mephitic influence that supposedly intelligent and moral people welcomed with open arms. I know a few people that worked there, and some had very mixed feelings about the MIT ethos and how smug the entire place was.

If it matters Chomsky (to me) was always primarily the person who pushed the idea that language was innate human capacity. So you might all be happy that his major claim to fame has been seriously wounded by large language models, which have no specialised language capability.

I'm shocked, shocked, that a guy who once denied both the Cambodian and Bosnian genocides would have moral failings
