Hey folks,

My partner has a C-48 that needs maintenance. It is making weird noises and overloads way too easily with fairly low SPL. Can you guys point me towards a reputable repair place. It would be nice to use this as it's intended.

Following as I could use a Sony mic repair contact just in case. Please report back if you find one and have a good experience!

I think the guy from Russian Recording has had a ton of Sony stuff come through and I understand he uses Peluso. It may be worth asking him. Good luck!

Thanks guys. Vanguard got back to me. I'm sending him sound files. Hopefully it's just a capsule cleaning and minimal maintenance.

I'll keep ya'll posted.

That’s what I was afraid of, I’ve looked at old threads at other places in the past and people’s experiences varied. Some had trouble finding someone who would take them, others had stuff repaired w/o issue. Pro audio repair really sucks, never realized how spoiled I was with the tube amp guys.

I used to own a Vanguard FET mic and it was great. I especially got some good recordings of one mic and acoustic with it and only sold it as I was consolidating some of the stuff I had into pairs.

Oh, bummer. Vanguard is a good dude in my experience.
Afaik the capsule is still available from Sony for a princely sum…
There is PTW in nashville too, that does membranes.
Peluso is a little too fishy for me.
