I've had my Mackie 24/8 console for about 6-7 years now, but always thought if I upgrade the console, i'd go for a Yamaha 02R96. The question I like to toss out... what would are some of the most important advantages of going to a digital console, instead of keeping the ol' standard analog? Automation of the faders are appealing, but are the faders solid enough to keep a tight mix? Also, is HD audio or surround sound formats an important consideration for this type of console? Anyone been at this cross road, chime in.
Thanks!
