Great band. On a few singles especially, those boys just roared.

'Afterglow' (in it's mono mix) is a blistering, majestic 3 minutes of pop glory. Steve Marriot was a great singer.

Ogden's is a bit dodgy though, innit?

For me its close but marriots voice does it more for me.

I think Ronnie Laine is the true cement in both though.

The poacher by the plonk is one of my favourite songs of all time.

Nice bumps, _Dragon.

I was watching a documentary about Ronnie Lane the other day and was totally transfixed. Good bassist, and it seems that life dealt him a particularly bum hand.
This band had never really interested me, but 'Song of a Baker' is a great tune and it's made me want to listen to some more stuff...

run joe, run, why would you say Ogdens... is a dodgy album? It was the one I was considering buying...

Not crap. Need to buy more stuff by them -- all I have is Ogdens' Nut Gone -- what's good?

Your Bumps, Your Bumps, Your Lovely Lady Bumps...

They Play on that Billy Nichols "Would You Believe" record... perty darn good, but not quite the "British answer to pet Sounds" the re-ish peeps claim...

I also saw that documentary, and had the feeling afterwards that this was a man with a wonderful spirit.

It's not that I think Ogden's... is bad, particularly, and I'd even go so far as to recommend it - especially if you're keen on the more whimsical side of the band - but I think it's patchy, and somewhat awkward, like they're slightly out of their depth. All good fun though.

I like my Small Faces how I like my Who: loud and raucous, and preferably mono.

Yeah, this is what I want. Where am I likely to find this loudity and raucaciousness?
