Fugazi

I've just realise something about Fugazi... I don't like any of their records before In on the Killtaker.

I was wondering for ages why I wasn't enjoying them as much as I should and decided to delete their earlier records off my iPod and... voila! What a great band!

I'm I crazy? Judging "popular" opinion I could be in the minority on this one.

Well, there's a definite jump in styles between Steady Diet and Killtaker, isn't there? I wouldn't say either was better or worse. But they were awesome. To discount the early stuff because of the quality of the later stuff smacks of revisionism to me.

Did you ever see them back then? There's an argument that they're not really going to give any surprises any more... okay, they don't use a setlist, but the last time I saw them you could have predicted what they played beforehand. Back then they were a real vital force, and hardcore was crying out for what they brought to the scene. I think.

I don't actually enjoy their music anymore; I loved them when I was a nipper but now they bore me.

I'd still go and see them pay though, and I'd probably dig it.

Steady Diet and Killtaker are definitly the best albums they did.....End Hits is good though.
But I agree on the live thing. I saw them in UK when End Hits came out and apart from Shellac supporting them, I averagely enjoyed it.

Although Fugazi is one of those bands that I'd never say bad things about, good songs, amazing bass lines, shite drummer (oups....did I just say something bad there????), Fugazi: not crap.

I totally agree with you actually. I could never quite get Fugazi over the years. I think the recent records are far superior to the early stuff. There's more variety in the sound and it even sounds as if they're having 'fun' on these records.
