i recently aquired a sunn beta bass. my plan is to try and run it (preamp output) through my marshall JMP and use it as kind of a glorified fuzz box. i havnt tried it yet so i dont know how it sounds. just kind of pipe dreaming.
anyway.. the sunn doesnt work. when i turn it on, a fuse on the inside power board blows. i talked to someone who said it may be a transister on the output. i'm curious if anyone on here has any experience with doing what i described above, and if anyone has any experience with repairing sunn betas or anything of the like.
thanks!

2Y'know, Marshall JMPs sound pretty good without running a preamp into the front of them.
That said, I wouldnt run a line-out into the input of my JMP that's expecting to see an instrument-level signal. In addition to the level mismatch, there's probably an impedance mismatch as well. Not really good for either amp, and most of all, not likely very good for the sound you'll get.
If you want more fuzz, there are many fine boxes you can buy. Using the search function will get you many recommendations from the fine people here, including this and this.

3I agree with endofanera...on all aspects. I regards to the Beta, if you're not experienced with troubleshooting solid state amps...don't bother. Take it to someone who knows what they're doing. I've had to do extensive work on my Beta Lead, which has the same power amp. I eventually had to take it to someone because it wasn't an easy repair. If you know what you're doing, this may help you out:

4thanks for the tips guys. yeah i love the sound of my jmp. dont get me wrong. i'm just always plugging in things that dont really "go" just to see what it sounds like. but since you say it could bother both amps, i might not do it. my jmp is too fine a specimen.
as for the "working on solid state" thing. good point. i dont know what i'm doing.. but i paid about $20 for the beta so i feel like "why not learn?" thanks guys!
