Big Black, the infamous Chicago noise trio (quartet, counting their secret weapon, Roland the drum machine) will be reuniting for a slew of shows this spring, playing up to 30 dates in the U.S. and England.
Steve Albini, the band's singer and guitarist, talks about the decision:
"I thought it was about time that we threw in our hat as well, seeing as how everyone's doing the reunion thing now," Albini said. "It took awhile for it to come to fruition, but with Santiago [Durango, the band's guitarist] being able to take a break from his lawyer gig, we thought it was the perfect opportunity."
In addition, the band has been working on new material, and will be releasing a new record with two or three new songs along with reimagined versions of old songs, titled Payback.
"You know, people will probably give me a lot of shit about [Big Black] reuniting, but you know what? It's all about [rubbing fingers together indicating money]," Albini said.
