9I can safely say that this forum is responsible for most of the embarrassing moments in my musical education. I had no idea that I should be ashamed to listen to, much less enjoy, bands like:
Steely Dan
Jesus Jones
Ned's Atomic Dustbin
The Beatles
etc.
Thank you, EA Forums, for bringing me to true rock enlightenment.

10When I was 5 or 6, I knocked on the door of my best friend's house to see if he wanted to come outside and play. My best friend at the time was a guy called Austin (now a fairly successful artist AFAIK) who had only recently moved to the West Country from Liverpool.
I had clearly interrupted a conversation with my knocking since as Austin's mum opened the door to me she casually asked "What's your favourite band Adam?".
"Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" I answered in the genuine belief that this was the name of the band that I had been listening to on my mono tape-player in my bedroom for the last 6 months.
For some reason this scene stayed with me until the day came when I discovered that the tape I had been listening to was not in fact recorded by the large group of unlikely looking musicians depicted on the cover of the tape, and that this group was not named quite as I had thought.
I am blushing while I type. Memories are strange.
