I called today and the phone number above is no longer used by them. So I called a good friend of mine who now lives in Paris and had lived in Lyon. He knew the Pezner team very well. He wasn't at home but he thinks he has at least 3 phone numbers of people who worked at the venue. He will email me the numbers tomorrow. Hopefully, there will be at least one working.

He also told me he has an audio recording of the gig (cdr). He will send it if you want.

Eventually I could talk to a Pezner person today: Damien. He will be back to Lyon next week and will mail me the tape then. As the tape is in the French standard, I will transfer it to dvd before toship it to the US.

Sylvain-

Thank you for your help! You don't have to worry about making a DVD. I'd prefer not to have the mpeg compression. I can deal with any PAL format here. Do you know what it'll be? Is it safe to assume it's VHS? I would love it if it were DV, but I'm not at all picky. Whatever you can get is great!

Thanks again for all the leg work. Did I already PM you my address?

It's a VHS tape. I hope it's PAL format but it could also be SECAM format (old French format).

Yes, you did PM me your address.

Talk to you soon.

When music sounds forced, it annoys me, because it feels like a group of guys who have set out to pander to a select group of people... kinda like Interpol.

One of the more interesting interpretations I've heard of their music.

I'm not sure what qualifies as "natural" music to you, frankly. I think it's a bold move to call someone's music disingenuous when you don't know how they get their ideas or how they incorporate those ideas into their music.

I've heard others describe USM as some kind of "joke band", where the joke is on the people who enjoy them. While, sure, it could be entirely possible, it would be the kind of joke that rivals someone like Andy Kaufman both in scope and length.

All 5 guys who've been involved in USM (as my only point of personal reference) are some of the nicest people I've ever met.

A little update…. It’s official and we are going forward with a USM documentary.

First, thanks to everyone who has sent me photos, provided me with leads and has gone out of their way to track stuff down! Don’t forget to let me know how you wanna be credited! Too, thanks to all who simply offered words of encouragement as that is as equally helpful.

Anything else that may be out there, please let me know. I just feel we can never have too much stuff.

As far as what this will be when it’s finished, it’s still too early and can’t really say at this point. I don’t think it’ll be too different from the standard “rockumentary” type of thing with USM talking about their albums, tours, ect, with live stuff scattered throughout. And then whatever extras, music vids and possibly a complete live thing…

USM is talking about playing 3 mid-west shows (Chicago and two others) to get some current live footage with Adam. I’ll probably just shoot the band interviews around when the shows get set up.

Al doesn’t have a problem including some of the Snailboy\Shorty stuff, but doesn’t think it should out weigh Pat and Todd’s previous DeKalb project The Mercury Players. I told him there were requests for Snailboy practice space stories at Shaky’s. He laughed with a, “Wow! Yeah, that place.”

Too, another question posted here was something to the effect that there were additional Snailboy recordings with Butch Vig that were unreleased. Al says he seems to remember 3 to 5 other songs they did, but doesn’t know where there at. He’s looking to see if he has ‘em, but says Fisher might have ‘em or, maybe Todd (Lamaprelli).

They’ve also given me permission to upload a couple more things I have to YouTube… I’ll update here when that happens.

Thanks again, to the EA community for all your help!

Tony
