Humbuckers, no.

I seriously don't know why people bother with humbuckers so much of the time. The only purpose I can see is the noise reduction, because P90s sound just as good or better distorted, and far better clean...

It must be cool to hate humbuckers these days. I have two SGs with humbuckers. Angus Young, Tony Iommi, Glen Buxton, Michael Bruce, etc. etc. played SGs with humbuckers.

I think they sound great. And they don't buzz and squeal.

I like SGs...sound good, look cool, really comfortable. I always feel like I'll break them though. They can obviously take a lot of shit but I'm still skeptical.

I like humbuckers when they are Not Crap.

The pickups in my friend's stock gibson SG (as opposed to epiphone, etc) are NOT Not Crap. They are Crap.

I used to love these guitars for their fret reach, and the frets themselves. Tastes change, though, I think they're too light, necks are too Gibson-y, off-balanced, and fragile. And the pickups are Crap.

I have a black '77 that my brother in-law gave me (he was forced into lessons as a child and therefore hates the guitar). I should play this thing more often but I shamefully just don't get around to it. Even after poster Bigc took it and fixed up the wiring.

SGs are not crap.

in that the thinner necks on strats and teles feel better in my tiny, child-like hands.

It's like a blondes or brunettes debate. A man of the world appreciates both.

I think about 75% of SGs are garbage, 20% are good and 5% are no fucking joke. That's an excellent ratio for me.
