You can usually find the Tiny Terror on Ebay for about $500, shipped.
Use any cabinet for now. I use a Vox cab with mine.
It's loud enough for me to play a gig CLEAN in the 15w mode.

You can very effectively drive it in 7w mode for recording, especially if you don't share a wall with your neighbors. If you do, use a soundproofed closet as an iso tank and you'll be OK.

Do a search and you'll find a lot of info on the Tiny Terror here at EA. I myself have posted a lot on this amp.

I own a "boutique" amp that I love, but had the TT been available back when I bought it, I may have saved the money. It's *that* good if you don't mind it's simple controls.

EL84 brilliance on a budget. I have nothing but good things to say about it.
Comes with it's own little gig bag too. I can carry it to a show and plug into the house cab if there is one.
Think about that:
One guitar
Pedal board
Amp (and cords) in a bag

I can go to a gig in a cab!
So great.

I have an old orange or head(120 watt) and i really love it !!!
Best amp i have ever played i think, has a pretty unique sound (by that i mean that it sounds nothing like a marshall/fender/vox etc)
When cranked it sound amazing ! but loud as hell,
I really recomend it to anyone..
(at least the old or amps , have very little experiens with other orange models..)

Whoa. Seriously?

Damn this thread. I really want one now.

Not at a huge club, but I've done a small club unmic'd and a medium one (Local 506 in Chapel Hill if you know it) mic'd. Volume was on 5, 15w mode, no trouble hearing myself.

Brilliant little amps.

My band refers to itself as "the Navy SEALs of bands" because we are so portable now.
-I bring a guitar pedalboard and the TT
-The bass player brings a bass and a GK 250 bass amp, which can drive a cab or be used with it's internal speaker (has a DI out)
-The singer/guitarist uses the house amp or uses the other band's if it's OK. If that won't work then she's the only one who has to bring a regular sized amp.

I put mine thru a 1960 slant cab and it's clean (volume max and gain at 9:00) level at 15watts is VERY loud. I think it would push the old Lounge Ax sized venue with out a mic.

But no worries, this thing can do anything...if the venue is big enough, it will (should) have a PA system.

Speaking of versatility...assuming you dont mind bringing a 4X12 cab:
the 1960 cab in stereo with two TTs (or in my case a TT and an Epiphone Valve Jr.) is way cool and somewhat crazy looking.

I suggest getting a TT as soon as you can (and the Valve Jr. too...I mean at $99, it is the cost of an FX pedal...and that thing sounds damn good...but I digress).

Regards,
spoon

The guitarist in a band I used to play bass in had an old orange 100 watt 2 x12 combo, that was LOUD, but really middly and kind of odd sounding I borrowed it a few times to play guitar through I couldn't get on with it, i was more used to the selmer/ vox old tube amps that have lots of high end, and the orange had pretty much none, He always sounded great through it though (he used it in the band Billy Mahonie who were moderately well known in the UK). I've seen a few bands lately using the newer AD heads.. and most have sounded decent, akin to the good marshall heads (JMP's 800s DSL's) but not that different or special.

I've searched online for samples, but the only samples I've been able to find are videos of people wanking around playing blues with a slight overdrive. Bands who use Orange amps (like Shiner and At The Drive-In) seem to have decent mid range, which is what I'm looking for, but I haven't been able to hear an isolated guitar track to really decide whether I like it or not.

I'm basically looking for something similar to a big muff with the tone knob positioned at 8 o'clock (because my current amp has pretty much no low end).
