There's no way you're going to hear the Animal Collective unless they record at EA, so trust me when I say that what this shit really sounds like is the Animal Collective. I'm the 3rd or 4th person on the thread to point this out, and we're all correct.

I really want to drive this point home even further for those who have missed it:

Be a band of guys that make a video of yourselves pretending to play one of your songs inside a mirrored cube. That's fine.

Be a band of guys who wear Marriage and Family Therapist sweaters. That's fine.

Just don't combine the two.

I've listened to this album four or so times all the way through, and it's a perfectly fine album. It's a step away from the EPs, obviously, but still works as a BATTLES release.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say it sounds like a, um....LET'S ACTIVE record.

Just to stir the pot.

I don't know how functional battles is, so let's not start comparing them to Let's Active quite yet.
