1st Scala gig

Sound was great even without their original amplification.

I think the Scala is actually the best show location i´ve ever been to.

I agree, Gertrude were crap. Unfortunately a friend I was with decided it was his duty to be, how shall I put it, 'extremely vocal' about his dislike for the band. To those that were there and were annoyed by this, I apologise on his behalf. I did really enjoy Shellac's show - after moving from my original spot (i.e. right in front of Bob Weston's amp). I found that when I moved a bit further to the left I could hear Steve's guitar.

What kind of (slightly) spoilt it for me was the fact that I seemed to be standing next to "Shellac's no.1 fan" for a good part of the gig, he talked to his friend constantly throughout the show (talked=shouted). Stuff along the lines of "aahh wait for the guitar on this bit... NOW... wooo", I didn't appreciate that.

Anyway, it wasn't enough to detract from the greatness of Steve, Bob and Todd's performance - I wish I could go see them again tonight...

I managed to get a few photos in, i.e. one of Todd where you can't see his face, a few blurry ones of Steve (I was stupid enough to try and get a shot in when I was in the middle of what was almost a mosh pit) and one of the back of Bob Weston's head. Fucking digital cameras. That's my excuse anyway... I wish I hadn't bothered and just watched the show.
