Beggars Group & Matador Records Wants You

Do you want to break into the music industry? Well this is your shot. We're looking for a few good men and women to help us out with our Street Teams.

Looking for reps in key markets around the country, including, San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, DC/Baltimore, Chapel Hill, Seattle, Boston, Detroit, Phoenix, St. Louis, Minneapolis, Louisville, Portland, Miami, Austin, Dallas, and Houston.

Reps would mainly be working in a promotional and 'street' marketing capacity. We'll ask you to help us by performing such tasks as putting up posters and doing stock checks in record stores and other key retail locations, handing out promo materials such as samplers, postcards, stickers, and flyers, giving out promo CDs and 12"s to clubs, bars, and DJs. Occasionally checking on venues, stores and other key locations to see if they've put up promo materials.

As a Street Team member, you’ll have your finger on the pulse of what’s new and what’s hot in this amazing industry. There are many benefits to being on the Street Team. You'd have access to new music, you'd be involved in promotional strategies and putting them into place and you'd have the opportunity to build up an amazing network of contacts within the music industry. Also, you'll get hooked up for cd's, promotional swag, and free concert tickets. Also, if you're a college student and your school allows it, earn credits.

If you are interested in joining our crew, please send over a resume and a brief description of yourself and your current involvement in your music scene. Things like:

What gigs and clubs have you been to recently?

What are the last couple of singles and albums you've bought?

Which radio stations do you listen to, what music press do you read and which web sites do you like?

Have you ever done this kind of thing before - if so, who with?

* Location: Dallas/Denton
* Compensation: unpaid :-( , free music, tickets and other promotional materials, school credit when applicable
* Principals only. Recruiters, please don't contact this job poster.
* Please, no phone calls about this job!
* Please do not contact job poster about other services, products or commercial interests.

Those guys are so INDIE man.

If only I weren't in the crappy position of working for myself I'd go to work for them for FREE! They have a Chapel Hill slot open. Imagine their surprise when they find out there are exactly 3 good bands playing around here right now.

"Street teams?"
Really? I suppose they want you to "work smarter, not harder," and then "huddle" with them later. I wonder what their Mission Statement is?

alex my friend, what about all of the side projects and solo efforts? i am talking about a real potential! think i am fit for a "career" change? just think about the power of making venue owners and employees incredibly uncomfortable! the street teams are really good at that. that is real power. more flyers, handbills, "charming" small talk for up and coming bands that draw 8 people seeing a show for their first time. wait, i like music and being fair to people. is that an interest conflict? i have never seen this work. i have seen a lot.
