what do I need to maniplate the sound once I have it in my computer? I would like a program to put the sample into a key, some sort of pitchshifter I guess, again I have no clue how to do this sort of thing, we have always just recorded the samples raw, but I want more control of the samples...

You have those Boss Dr Sample guys, right? You can do the pitch manipulation on the sampler itself.

Which one do you have, the 202, the 303?

I have a 202, but the maniplation on that thing sucks ass, I would rather, do it before I dump it into the sampler...

It sounds like you'd need some sort of DAW software for your Mac. I'm a PC guy so I can't help you too much there. There's probably a stripped-down sampler built in to Garageband (Mac guys feel free to chime in), where you can assign a sample to a key, and then trigger it with a midi controller, then add effects, etc. The aforementioned Battery could also do this, if you have DAW software to host it.

Audacity is a free audio editor for Macs that can change pitch and tempo and whatnot. There is a support wiki that is pretty comprehensive (tutorials and such).

I myspaced him and haven't heard back anything yet... but we know Nato and the Used kids really well (we did a split with Mo-Macs, and I lived with Nato for a bit) so if the Hunchys can't help the use-y probally can... I am not worried yet...

This site looks cool, and just what the doctor ordered, as the member of my band who was running samples and electronics quit a month before our first show, leaving the rest of us with the task of putting something together to replace what he was doing.

I was a bit confused by all the legalese on the freesound site. How does the whole process work as far as crediting whomever submitted the samples?
