Don t talk to the police

That's a small neighborhood of about 850 people, much smaller than your own Wicker Park.

Besides, it's attached to a large municipality which can provide needed resources like water and sanitation.

If a large city like Chicago were to abolish its police, taxation would cease and all municipal resources like water, sanitation, the CFD, traffic lights, etc. would stop functioning.

No, people would just figure out a way to adapt like they always do and always have.

The people who say 'Oh I don't wanna just hand off power to vigilantes' or 'I don't trust my neighbors'
Well, you have handed that power over already. These cops ARE your neighbors, just normal people like everyone else. And they have been given absolute godlike power over you, me and everyone else.
They have the right to pull you over and rob you at will, they have the right to kill you.
If a cop decides I should die, he will kill me and nothing will happen to him. In this city they do not have to follow even the most basic of rules.
The cop who shot the dude in the face at the EL stop for no reason?
That shooting was ruled justified remember.
Remember the cop who shot the woman in the face on the side of 55, he said he thought she had a gun because her bracelet was sparkling in the sun? Then it turned out later it was his ex girlfriend who he was pissed at?
Shot her right in the head in daylight in front of hundreds of witnesses. Guess where he is today?
Yep, driving around Chicago with a weapon, 'protecting' you.
There are no 'checks and balances' in Chicago. The police can and will do whatever they like.
Roving gangs of armed criminals. That's what you are afraid of happening?
Uh, gotta tell you....they are already out there.

Believe me, I am not found of the concept of the police, but I don't see a way around the need for them. Improvement is possible (I hope) and necessary (I know). I am not so interested in forming a posse with the mouth breathers on my street who litter like it gave them orgasms.

We could try this.

Good luck advocating for it without getting your shit ruined by cops, though.
“As I have said before, the ever more sophisticated weapons piling up in the arsenals of the wealthiest and the mightiest can kill the illiterate, the ill, the poor and the hungry, but they cannot kill ignorance, illness, poverty or hunger.”

Yes a vendetta-justice society, also my utopia. we could all just move to corsica now & get this transition you speak of over with. i look forward to being killed for something my dad or brother did.

actually corsica is not half bad otherwise. i'd move there with all of you for other reasons.

Isn't Corsica a territory of France?

yep, corsica is french. or belongs to france still in spite of the efforts of corsican separatists. if i remember correctly they were close to allowing a vote on independence a couple years ago, but the powers that be were afraid that it would end in embarrassment, with the majority of corsicans voting against seceding & the majority of those on the continent voting to let them go.

i lived there for a couple of years & it's hard to think of a more beautiful place to retire to. they have a long history of vendetta justice & feuding between clans in the mountains, thus the joke. i imagine this is pretty par for the course for sardinia & sicily too, but i'm not familiar with their histories.

i have no soft spot for cops, but anyone arguing for a world without cops is arguing for a world without laws &, abused & twisted as some of them might be, this is clearly ridiculous at this point in our development.

still, i think rick's post was spot on. we are victims of a sort of massive protection racket.

Yeah, the Corsican gangs are pretty tough. A few decades ago, they were even more powerful than the Sicilian mob in terms of worldwide influence. In the '60s and '70s, the Corsicans were the backbone of the so-called "French connection" of worldwide heroin distribution.

Are they still used by French Intelligence and given protection in return? I've read that they're aided and abetted by by the French government in much the same way as American organized crime is handled by American intelligence, and that that relationship dates back to the post-WW2 period. Is this still the case nowadays?

You've seen what happens when muslims get any sort of power, don't you? They turn whatever area of the world they have control over into a swirling cesspool of violence and death, oppression and hatred.
Are muslims the only people you think might act this way, if a legal system based on impartial justice was removed? Even though cops don't mete out blind justice, they're at least supposed to. Who's gonna make the Vice Lords mete out blind justice?

i'm sorry, i don't know where the original 'sup quote is from, but jesus. normally i just think you are refining your "persona" when you riff on stupid shit like this, but now i suspect you like tuning in to michael savage for more than just the chance to laugh at a nutcase. there are millions of secular muslims in this fucking world. i almost married one. go to turkey or india or wherever & have a look around whether your assinine quote above has any connection to reality. funny especially in the context of you taking apart your own insanely corrupt hometown in this thread.
