Are you my brother?

Because I think our tape collections were the same album for album.

Except the Expose one, you stumped me there.

I have so many “shameful” records… I wouldn’t take them off the younger me though. I still like most of them. Even the ones that people have been listing RATM, Pantera, Celtic Frost, Suicidal Tendencies, Infectious Grooves… I also have James Taylor and all Cat Stevens… and a full quota of 80’s pop – Billy Idol, Dire Straits, Alison Moyet & Yazoo et all. Plus a great collection of shit speed metal and the worst of crap New Zealand Bands – Pumpkinhead, Dead Flowers, Muckhole anyone? Also some totally appalling ‘Urban Pacific’ style hip hop that would shame anybody. And I have almost all the Primus albums. And Green Days Dookie. I will buy any old shit if I have money in my pocket – I will probably like it too.

For the purposes of this board though I think the worst offenders are

Steve Ray Vaughan

Tuck and Patti

I may also have a Steve Stevens solo album...

Not fair because you know I still kind of like them a little.

Had it on tape, purchased from the local grocery store (1 of two places to buy tapes in town...the other was Jones' Drug Store).

Oh and on CD:

I remember trying to tell myself, "Dude, it sounds JUST LIKE Led Zeppelin." I also remember Guitar World printing tab of one of the songs. I learned it.

Whoever posted Radiohead, knock it off. You're just trying to be cool. If you want to hang with the big boys, you gotta post some real shit.

You know, like this:

(obviously I had the first one, too)

Tommy, how do you think Dear You is bad. That record still rules.

I am willing to cop to the fact I still own all my old Game Theory albums, and still listen to them with genuine affection and pleasure. I even bought the Loud Family stuff, too. Come out of the closet, fellow Smart Pop fans!

When I was in high school I absolutely adored Game Theory. I'm glad to hear you still listen to them. For some reason when I listen to them, I enjoy the music and the nostalgia, but the sound is just too...I donno...80s, I guess [sigh].

Clever, well written songs by some very talented musicians though. Someone should cover some of their stuff.
