Patti Smith-Rock n Roll n-word
Nirvana-Rape Me (?)
*scratches head
Geez, there sure are a lot of [insert most any genre] songs referencing underage women (aka children) and romantic advances, if one would call them that.

32Oh man, I never realized that. I still love Patto, maybe not as much now.wot wrote: Wed May 19, 2021 2:27 pm In terms of 70's rock, nothing has a drop on Patto's "Hold Me Back" where the object of affection is a 13 year old who the singer believes is giving him signals. Even the title implies he knows he's about a to commit a crime but she "drove a man insane."
The scummiest feeling when listening to it! What a song!

The odd thing about both 'Fairytale of New York' and 'Money for Nothing' is that the offending word comes from a character in the story, not the singer. And both songs were written by non-Americans who may not have appreciated the strength of the insult?

Good Point.
That ain't workin....

34I think jello biafra replaces the n-bomb in Holiday in Cambodia with 'blacks' now when he plays it live with his new band. I see no issue with changing song lyrics retroactively, it's not as if they are a historical record or something. The one issue I have with it is that right-wingers often tend to use things like these as excuses to start claiming that the left are tyrannical and changing history and that they are living in 1984.

35The lyrics to the Rolling Stones "Stray Cat Blues" has always been inappropriate.
Iggy's "Sixteen", too.

36CRAAANN YEERR TRAKKKE MREEE HRAIRARGGGHGHHH!?!?!?
I mean, "offensively bad" is pretty much interchangeable with "inappropriate," right? Or should Creed Guy have his own thread?

37Going by their song 'Who's Gonna Shoe Your Pretty Little Feet', I wouldn't let the brothers Everly anywhere near my young family.
