Recommend a drum overhead mic stand

Ugh, kerbled, but I'm sure we discussed this already. Anyway...

This is the least enjoyable thing to throw money at, but my $29 OnStage boom stand does not cut it for drum overheads. I don't need to extend a rare German mic 20 feet out into an orchestra, but I need to hang a couple SDCs 2-3 feet over a drum kit, in my home-office-slash-studio, and generally set it and forget it.

What's out there that can do this adequately, and not be some massive $500 chunk of iron?

I use these in my home setup: http://herculesstands.com/us/products/m ... om/ms533b/ I think they're around $80 a piece. Can probably find them on sale or get a discount code, though, depending on where you shop.

They work great and I really like the "hideaway" feature for the boom. Granted my current overhead mics are two Little Blondie SDCs, which are tiny.

Slight upgrade option incase your ever need to support more weight, but still relatively affordable for a nice stand:
Atlas Sound MS20 (https://www.guitarcenter.com/Atlas-Soun ... 8084839.gc) and their extendable, weighted boom (https://www.guitarcenter.com/Atlas-Soun ... 8084800.gc).

I have one of the Atlas stands with the boom and it's great as well. Going to pick up another at some point.

I took a quick look for that K&M stand but I don’t think I found the exact model.

It looks normal, until you have it in front of you and pick it up. It stands taller and is quite a bit heavier than any typical stand. I get that tripods are sometimes annoying in a forest of drum hardware, but the best thing about a weighted stand is you can put the tripod legs wherever they fit best, without trying to make sure the boom extends directly over one of the legs so it won't fall down.

not a stand, but I devised a kinda neato thing a couple of years ago. I have a beam in my basement that runs right over the Tom Mount on the kit in my basement. I mounted 4 of those little podium mic mounts into the beam and bought a couple of these little mini boom attachments. I ran xlr cables to each point and just left the cables ran, cables managed with Velcro that is also screwed into the beam. Now, I can put up a few overhead mics on the beam and not deal with mic stands for the overheads at all. It's all clean and the cables are already plugged into the snake. It's nice when you have very limited floor space.
