This is a classic move. I do this all of the time with vocals. You can add gain and go for tons of grain, but sometimes leaving plenty of headroom makes it neither lofi, nor hifi, just different, more mid heavy and a little more dense.

It's also a cool way to make a canned reverb sound more unique, eq the sends and returns liberally.

Great to know! I am in fine company : ) The fun part will be getting the right amount of bleed between the mics and so on. I suspect that I shall leave the Bassman low, and push things at the front end a bit. It is loud of course, and Blanket Fort does not have isolation booths. It does, however, have a bathroom...and blankets....
