Haven't looked through the thread, but it would surprise me if This is a Call by Foo Fighters hadn't been mentioned.
TIAC was such a roaring out-of-the-gate song. It really felt like Dave was making a statement about survival and perseverance in the face of horrible tragedy, plus it fucking rocked. Too bad he/Foos morphed into whatever they are now...although hey, the guy made a decent living doing what he wanted.

I thought 'Everlong' was the one everyone liked.
I think the first three FF albums are solid.
"Whatever happened to that album?"
"I broke it, remember? I threw it against the wall and it like, shattered."

I remember This is a Call being the one that the old board grudgingly agreed to let into the rarified air of PRF admiration.

Great is maybe too strong of a word for this, but this Redd Kross ripoff song is the only STP song I like:
Also, I remember thinking when this this one came out "well, someone has been listening to a lot of Liz Phair since their last record."
i agree with both of these, although i have come to the realization that if asked, i could put together a six to eight song STP mix tape that would be tolerable. that song is the best one for sure. i also like quite a few Sheryl Crow songs *including* her duet w/ Kid Rock.
Lenny Kravitz is the nut low but he has two great jams (are you gonna go my way & always on the run)

I think 'Sour Girl' is also pretty good. Beyond their yarl-y beginnings they aren't that terrible..

I randomly heard Jewel's "You Were Meant For Me" at a gas station recently and my adult ears were struck by how it was basically a modernized Patsy Cline song. Like full-on classic country music, and no one seemed to mention it when it was all over MTV.
