Yeah, I read this was also a solution, but my shit was hardwired (wtf?) and couldn’t be easily swapped. I dunno if it’s an earlier model than others or what, and I’m sure i could figure out how to remedy it, but alas. Once I got the hum to go 95% away I was happy.Vibracobra wrote: Tue Oct 12, 2021 8:06 am The debut carbon indeed may show hum and shit.
My previous system showed no traces of hum or noise so it has to be the tt or something related, not the installation.
After tryin stuff, I realised problem were the original Project cables that go from the back of the tt to the Phono source of the receiver. They were too large and probably damaged in some way. With an old pair of standard and not-too-long red and white ones it was fixed.
Re: Turntable slipmats
12FWIW, I haven't noticed any increased static since I moved to the delrin platter on my Rega, and way less static than with the rubber mat I linked to earlier. I'd like to think there was some noticeable and positive change in sound but I think that's just my wallet playing tricks on my ears. Definitely looks cool af, similar to this:

Re: Turntable slipmats
13Felt can be staticy sometimes. Cork with not be. If you are not doing scratchy things then you don't need the lack of friction that felt allows, so I would go with cork : )Wood Goblin wrote: Sat Oct 09, 2021 10:33 am Currently, I use the felt one that came with my turntable (a Rega). Are there any advantages to switching to cork or some other material? Is it even necessary to use a slipmat?
My only complaint with the felt slipmat is that it comes off when I’m removing a record. Since I’ve never simply put the record right on the platter, I don’t know whether the felt affects static or anything else. I’ve just assumed that it’s useful for vinyl protection.
