Hold that thought until you come check what I'm working on in the lab...

I'm telling you this is some different ting bruv. Forget everything you think you know... there's no suspended-diaphragm loudspeaker tech involved...
There's nothing fancy that can be done with with speakers that will "fix" a bad-sounding room which has to be about 99% of all rooms that pa are going in.

That being said, I love me some mad scientist shit.

Agreed. Mad Science is the best science. Don't get me wrong about "sounds like shit." It's relative to "sounds great!" Like Garth said, most of the issues with PA is the space they hang in, and that due to the physical space between points, there is no avoiding the pitfalls of time and distance and phase and overhang and all that garbage, no matter how much SMAARTS you have. Live sound is a contest of concessions.

I had the fortune to work with Tim Jones at the CCC as I know you did. I really admired how he could get any system of any size/quality/location/familiarity to sound as good as it was going to get with a single playthrough of Concrete Jungle by Bob Marley.
TJ is a smooth MF! BTW, HEY PEPPER! Miss you, dude!

I'm trying to come up with a few that are not only good reference, but solid tunes, especially struggling to find stuff I can appreciate in genres I don't particularly care for personally.

Preemptive appreciation for any feedback.
For me I generally wouldn't use something outside of my own interest, just because it's got to be something I know inside and out.
