Re: 8 string guitar tunings

Dumb question: how do you buy strings for this? Do they do sets for seven- and eight-string guitars? Or do you have to buy two sets and waste some? I play a little, but have had the same six strings on my cheap Les Paul copy for about three years, and have been pondering this for even longer. (Yes, I could Google it, but where's the fun in that?)

They’re easily bought online, not sure about in person. 8 string has poor market penetration among regular people, but extremely high market penetration among shred choads, so they are catered to.

3 years! Are they daddy o’s, the strings that never break or go dead, just feel and sound terrible forever?

Makes sense.

It might even be four. I just thumb-strum it acoustically while bored at work and have been playing the Message in a Bottle bassline a lot lately. To people who know stuff I'm sure the strings (as well as my playing) would sound terrible, but it's just me in my 'office' and I've always disliked the new-string sound. (There's a reason I'm not in a band: I'm lazy, unsociable, cheap, and utterly, utterly hopeless as a musician. And that's already four reasons, and there are several more.)
