I would vote for the Goo Demos (aka Blowjob?), if I could. They were, in fact, released as a standalone, official CD (not even a bootleg) during the '90s and they were later added to the deluxe reissue of the album. They're a lot less slick and a little more "live" feeling than the proper record, plus there's a decent Lee tune that didn't make the cut. I first bought them on a bootleg LP; can't remember if it was right before or right after the proper album came out.

If not, I guess I'll take the official Goo by a hair. Dirty has some much better songs ("Theresa's Sound-World," "Wish Fulfillment," "JC") but also some much worse ones. (Although both have some real lows: Still, "My Friend Goo" and "Dirty Boots" are not quite as ridiculous as "Crème Brûlée" and the totally embarrassing "Youth Against Fascism.")

Everything after Dirty kinda bores me. There are some excellent tunes here and there, like "The Diamond Sea." But it's slim pickings for those who loved the band's more aggressive, screechier side. Mellow times w/weird guitars and a lot of bad "poetic" lyrics. Have heard most of the subsequent albums in their entirety and I saw at least three live shows after 1992. But it was inoffensive at best and limp at worst, even though I still respect the band members and their many accomplishments.

Goo has some of my favorite SY songs (Tunic (Song for Karen), Mildred Pierce, Cinderella's Big Score), but it also has some of the lamest songs they ever recorded (My Friend Goo, Kool Thing and especially Dirty Boots).
[Andy Kindler voice] It’s called Goo because it’s 3/4ths Good!

I’ll probably take Warshing Machine.

Oddly Murray Street.

I latched onto it after not really listening to them for quite a while. Dirty was my jam back in the day but Murray Street is definitely the album I reach for now.

What's up with you motherfuckers saying "Dirty Boots" is one of the worst songs on Good, wtf?!?!?! I guess I'm biased, as that's the first Yooth song I ever heard when I saw the video on 120 Minutes in early '94 when I was 11.

Hard to pick between Goo and Dirty for the 90s, as both would be much stronger if squeezed to a 40-45 minute single LP, instead of succumbing to CD-era bloat.

Murray St is still my fav from the 00s, though good songs on everything up through Rather Ripped. Have only listened to The Eternal 1-2 times and found it totally borrowing, their worst since A Thousand Leaves and NYC G&F.
