I wish they made a LP JR or double cutaway that had a single neck pickup. I have yet to really like using the bridge. It's just too nasally and pencil-like for my tastes, but may be it works in a setting where there's more than 1 guitar?eliya wrote: Wed Sep 25, 2024 1:37 pm I said in *most hands* sound like shit. Also a couple of outlier Gibsons. The LP Jrs are cool and also sound good (surprise - no humbuckers) in my opinion. 335s aren't bad either but I haven't played enough of those to form a concrete opinion.

114I know its not what you mean but oh my god I should post my dad’s Fender custom shop Telecaster one day in the ugly guitars thread. Very flame maple boomer’s dreamDr Tony Balls wrote: Wed Sep 25, 2024 12:50 pm Right I should have clarified that I dont think they sound bad, I just dont like them much. Like I think a telecaster with two humbuckers, a mahogany body and a maple cap would be infinitely better than a Las Paul.
I played it with a drumstick at my high school talent show! Go me!
Amazing

115I’m personally incapable of making a Les Paul sound good. I can’t do it! Lots of other folks can but not me.Dr Tony Balls wrote: Wed Sep 25, 2024 12:50 pm Right I should have clarified that I dont think they sound bad, I just dont like them much. 116I still like a GK 400RB with a 1x12 for guitar, but mostly I used that rig for so long because I sound about the same through anything and it was the most portable/durable/loud thing I could get years ago. In 2024 everyone makes a 200W bass head the size of a paperback, and though I bet most of them are not as durable as the GK I'd sound the same through one of those too. I never liked the 800RB much, even for bass.
I would never ever own a guitar that has a stupid looking headstock. I know this is very shallow of me. Sorry Reverend, sorry Seagull.
When I look at a Jaguar, Jazzmaster, or Les Paul, I feel nothing.
Actually that's not true - if they have a Jazzmaster vibrato or a Bigsby I feel pity.
Subwoofers are vastly overused. They are fantastic up to a bit past the point in volume where you can tell they're there, we're talking a few db. Much louder than that and they make everything sound worse, and I get the same cheesy, insincere GET READY TO HAVE YOURRR MINNNNDDD BLOWWWWWNNN vibe that I get from watching the trailer for an action movie. No amount of drugs or alcohol has ever made me feel differently about this for more than a few seconds.

117PRS and MusicMan too. And I don't feel bad about it: headstocks are stupidly easy. It could be a fucking rectangle and it's fine. These companies overthought it, and came up with something worse.PEPPER! wrote: Wed Sep 25, 2024 6:43 pm I would never ever own a guitar that has a stupid looking headstock. 118Still kinda want to get one of these kits and assemble and play it as-is without doing any routing.penningtron wrote: Wed Sep 25, 2024 6:52 pmPRS and MusicMan too. 119Luthiers will argue that shortening the strings past the nut has some tangible effects, and they do, but I would argue that looking lame has more.penningtron wrote: Wed Sep 25, 2024 6:52 pmPRS and MusicMan too.
