Sorry, I respectfully disagree. Early on, Les Paul helped write the book on solid body guitars (and multi-track recording, and guitar playing, and so on.). This is like saying Fenders are signature series instruments, even if LPs are technically a subset of Gibsons and the company isn't named after him. I mean, there's a lot of daylight between a Les Paul and, say, a Nuno Bettencourt series Washburn. The Les Paul is probably the second most popular guit of all time, behind the Strat. And again, I don't think there's something suspect about signature series intstruments. I just haven't felt personally drawn to them, to date. At least to the point that I'd buy one.
