I'm looking to change careers. I've been a journalist for about twenty years and studied media, but there is no jobs in that field, especially for a fourty year old dude with patchy resume. So I'm in a spot where I get rejected from cleaning jobs. I start at a daycare next week as a helper. Not exactly what I had in mind, but fuck it, I'm changing diapers be it here or there.

I don't want it to be permanent, so... Recommend me a career option. I'd love to study for years, but money-wise faster employment is better. I don't care if it doesn't pay much.

Whelp, you could do a bootcamp and try your hand at software. Not sure of the feasibility of that in this current market, though. Might be worth looking into.

My siblings have tried to talk me into software, but I'm wary of the situation and I'm not sure if I want to be replaced with AI the minute I get a job.

I don't mind studying, all I said money-wise faster is better. I'd really love to get myself a profession that is somewhat safe. I know it's nearly impossible in this day and age, but one can dream.
I've tried to get into machining and nursing, but no luck. It really irks me, because there is shortage of both here, but you can't get a clear path to those professions.

From what I gathered you are from Finland, which is probably a very different job market from the US. Like nobody here would ever moonlight in a kindergarten. As I understand it you would have either free or very cheap options to allow for further higher education and should take advantage of that if at all possible. Otherwise I think you might also have fairly open minded job placement centers, and you might consider training in a trade (plumbing, electrician, etc..., though those are probably similarly cliquey like nurising or machining.) Otherwise I think working with kids at the kindergarten is amazing and very important, and nothing to be look down on.

All of that is true, education is free for me, although I'd still have to work to live, but if I can secure a job that makes studying at the same time possible, I will definitely do that.
I've studied HVAC, but I got carpal tunnel syndrome and had to bail. Trade is something I've considered often, I'd love to have some skills that are actually useful. I know bits and pieces from all kinds of areas, but not enough to feel competent in pretty much any of those fields, including journalism, though that due to my depression. I know it's hard to believe I'm a journalist, me writing this disjointedly, but I'm actually pretty ok at it (when writing in Finnish).

Yeah, I have to stop looking down on this daycare stuff. I love kids and it is important stuff.

Wine/alcohol sales. It's a pretty safe job in any economy.

I have a 2nd round/final interview at a solid place with a good internal recommendation early next week. Lucky timing if my partner gets 'purged' by Nazi gamer bro.. no pressure.
