On this topic, I think "based" takes first prize for neologisms that are meaningless without the context of the speaker's alignment. Being aware of/awake to your personal and society’s bullshit is a great thing. Race, sex, gender, class, more.

In addition to always changing the meaning of a word they can't define. It's woke if there is a black mermaid, then it's woke if black creatives create black stories centering on a black mermaid. At it’s very best it’s about caring about others and being curious about things you don’t understand about other races, sexual preferences, etc. (i.e. the quick dismissal of Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show by white people, many of whom are liberal without poking around the ‘nternets to learn what “Not Like Us” and the whole performance was about)

At it’s most nauseating is going way over the line to be prickishly sanctimonious (i.e. “Lost Lake” in Logan Square was once a kickass little tiki bar with great drinks and a genuine escapist vibe. That was until a new owner decided that the term tiki was *cultural appropriation and changed the drink names such as “Beachcomber”, “Hulu Skirt”, “Bali Hi” to non-tiki names, tore down the idols and the puffer fish in netting, and SUCKED ALL THE FUCKING FUN OUT OF ONE OF OUR FAVORITE BARS )
